When Åre's old church became too small in the late 19th century, it was decided to build a new one. In 1894, the cathedral-like white wooden church in Duved was consecrated, built in Neo-Gothic style and with space for as many as 900 visitors. On the grounds, there is also a parish hall and a stately rectory.

Grand Residence was built in 1897 as the Grand Hotel and rose three stories high with a wooden facade in Neo-Gothic, Neo-Renaissance, and Swiss styles. The hotel quickly became a meeting place for mountain travelers seeking comfort and charm in the heart of Åre. Today, the building has been converted into apartments, but its historic ambiance still preserves the memory of the hotel's former glory.

Le Ski in Storlien was built in the late 19th century and has welcomed both royalty and skiers from near and far. With its unique atmosphere and magnificent views, it is a place where history and tradition meet the charm of the mountains. Le Ski remains one of Storlien's most classic landmarks to this day.

The Sporthotellet in Åre originally opened in 1912 as Nya Grand Hotell. The hotel quickly became a gathering place for mountain travelers and has, over the years, changed its name to Sporthemmet and later Sporthotellet. With its classic architecture and central location, it remains a cherished part of Åre's history today.

The Åre Funicular opened in 1910 and is one of the country's oldest funicular railways. It transports passengers from Åre square up to Fjällgården, and for over a hundred years, it has been a gateway to the mountains. With its wooden carriages and creaking rails, it carries both history and anticipation – a landmark in the ski resort.

Åre Ölkafé is housed in the historic station building, which was built in 1880 according to drawings by SJ's chief architect A.W. Edelsvärd. Here, locally brewed beer, homemade pastries, and the pulse of the mountains meet in a delightful combination. With its central location and unique atmosphere, Ölkaféet is a natural meeting point for both locals and visitors who want to take a break after a train journey or a mountain adventure.

King Carl XVI Gustaf, Duke of Jämtland, has a long personal connection to Storlien. He and Queen Silvia have a ski lodge here, which they still visit every winter. The lodge first belonged to the King's parents, who received it as a wedding gift in 1932. Storlien is a place for skiing, nature, and tranquility – a winter oasis where the royal family can enjoy the mountains and relax.

Henrik Harlaut was born in Sollentuna but moved to Åre at the age of nine – a place that became his home and springboard to the world. Today, he is considered one of the world's foremost freeskiers, known for his playful style and spectacular tricks. With achievements from the Olympics, World Championships, and several X Games medals, he has put Swedish freeskiing on the world map.

Jon Olsson is both a skier and an entrepreneur – born in Mora but with a strong love for Åre. He won the junior Swedish championship in slalom in 1999 but soon decided to focus on freeskiing, where he became one of the world's most spectacular skiers. For many years, he put Åre on the world map through the big air competition Jon Olsson Invitational, which attracted both the public and the elite of the sport.

Sara Hector is one of Sweden's foremost alpine skiers, with an Olympic gold medal in giant slalom among her achievements. She has lived in Åre for a period and has always trained and competed diligently in the mountain resort, which is very dear to her heart. Here, she has honed her technique, perfected her turns, and gathered energy for major competitions.
